I haven't done a blog in a while and having some time oh my hands I have decided to write about flowers can be Fashion models. Ok it might taking it a little far I don't see Vogue de fleur ever making the magazine shelf but you never know you get ice cream for dogs so you never know.
Being a portrait photographer for all with children, I in my off times look at flowers and start seeing the little posses children do in their petals or in the stances. When I photographer flowers I always think by myself if I'm just fast enough or in the right light I will get to see a little face stand out for me to capture and I still live in an irrational amount of optimism that one day I will get to do that shot.
Taking photos of Flowers in black and white is not easy as one would think, but over the years of training you can just walk on a garden path or onto a room and one single flower would stand out in a whole bunch and YES!! that's the One!! Its difficult to explain but its a gut feel thing , its the light the time of day the fullness of bloom or maybe even that little face that calls me to take a photo. I like giving my black and white flower models a metallic feel or even a lot of white so that the details of petals, veins are seen with the contrasting shadows of the petal textures coming of the natural light. Here is a link http://fineartamerica.com/featured/a-sunflower-dream-isabel-laurent.html of one of my favourite black and white flowers.I enjoy using a soft blur to my pictures as I do the same with my portrait photos, it helps me to bring a gentle focus on what I would like to explore. Flower photography is a exploration of the details we miss on a daily basses its that, that reminds me to being human. . Here is my website link http://isabel-laurent.artistwebsites.com/
